TAAF Games of Texas Youth Triathlon

The TAAF Games of Texas Youth Triathlon consists of a pool swim, a bike street ride and a park run. This Tri is an individual sporting event and each participant must complete all three portions of the triathlon in sequence. This event is open to youth ages six (6) to fifteen (15) years of age as of the event date with awards based on event age. This Tri is being presented by the Cities of Bryan and College Station and Texas A&M University. Timing for the event will be by Pendgo Timing.

Event Details:
Junior Tri:  100 yard Swim (two laps), 3 mile Bike (one loop) and 1K Run (one loop).
Senior Tri:  200 yard Swim (four laps), 6 mile Bike (two loops) and 1M Run (one loop). 

Swim:  The swim portion of the Tri will be in the pool.  You must wear a swim suit or appropriate tri shorts / tri outfit.  No cutoff jeans are allowed.  No swim aids allowed.

 

Bike:  The bike portion of the event will be along a coned roadway with Police presence.  You must have your own bike in working condition.  Training wheels allowed.  Bike support will be available for minor adjustments the morning of the event.  You MUST wear a helmet on the bike portion of the Tri.

NO HELMET, NO PARTICIPATION, NO REFUNDS!

 

Run:  The run will be entirely inside the community park.  Running / Tennis shoes are recommended for the run but not required.

 

All participants who finish the Tri will receive a medal.

Event Timeline (subject to change):

6:30am:  Body marking and bike check starts.

6:30am:  Transition opens for all participants.  Open racking, first come first served.

7:00am:  All participants should have arrived at the park.

7:00am:  Participants must pick up timing chip in front of the transition area.

7:15am:  All participants must now be body marked and be preparing their transition spot.

7:30am:  Bike check closes.

7:40am:  Transition closes.  All participants must make their way into the pool area.

7:45am:  Park closes to vehicular traffic.  Spectators must arrive prior to 7:45am.

7:50am:  Pre-event meeting with Race Director in the pool area.

8:00am:  Junior Tri time trial swim start.  Each participant will receive their own start time.
8:20am:  (Estimated) Senior Tri time trial swim start.  Senior Tri will start when last Junior Tri has left transition on the bike.

9:30am:  Awards ceremony.  You must be present to receive your award.  Awards will not be mailed.

 

Packet Pickup:
Saturday, August 1, 2015 from 3pm to 7pm.  Packet Pickup will be held at the College Station Middle School, 900 Rock Prairie Road, College Station, TX 77840

This is NOT a USAT sanctioned event so you do not have to bring your USAT membership card to packet pickup.  
Since this is NOT a USAT event, you will not be required to purchase a one day USAT membership to obtain your packet.  However, USAT rules WILL be used for the event.  Participants must bring a parent or legal guardian with them to packet pickup.  Your parent or legal guardian MUST bring some form of governmental ID card to packet pickup in order to sign the mandatory paper waiver.  No waiver, No packet.

Junior Tri - Overall Male and Overall Female plus 1st / 2nd / 3rd Male and Female Age Groups Awards:

Age Groups: (Age is based on Event Date Not USAT Date)
Junior Tri - J1 (6-7), J2 (8-9), J3 (10-11)
Senior Tri -S1 (12-13), S2 (14-15)

 

Registration Fees:  (Absolutely NO Race Day Registrations!)

Junior Tri and Senior Tri Individual (Ages 6 to 15) based on Event Date.

$45.00 before July 30, 2015

$65.00 on August 1, 2015 at Packet Pickup

No additional online registration fee.  "The price is the price".

NO REFUNDS (Hot or Cold / Rain or Shine)!!!


Timing:
Pendgo Timing will provide timing services for both the Junior Tri and the Senior Tri. Participants will be issued a timing chip along with an ankle strap the morning of the event.  The ankle strap must be worn on the left ankle during the entire event.  Timing chips will be collected at the finish line.  You must turn-in your timing chip at the finish line.  If you do not turn-in your timing chip, you will be charged a $40 fee to replace the timing chip.
